Randy Gist is a performing artist and composer based out of Los Angeles California who has made a career out of composing, producing, and orchestrating music for film, videogame, and television trailers and promos – a space occupied by few Black men. Randy’s achievements as a saxophonist include performances with artists such as The Jonas Brothers, John Legend, Kesha, and Ricky Martin. He also performed at the 2020 Grammys and with Jamie Foxx & Kelly Rowland for President Barack Obama. Other accomplishments include arranging for the Costa Rican National Orchestra. Randy has also written music for movie trailers such as “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and more and has been featured numerous times on the Fox hit TV show "Glee."

When not writing music, Randy enjoys DJ’ing. He has DJ’d for several major Disney Events including The Virtual World Premiere of Disney Pixar's Soul, as well as the World Premieres of Toy Story 4, Aladdin and The Lion King at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood CA. What started as a high school hobby has now become an important creative outlet for Randy – helping him to leave his mark on the world. Always striving to perfect his craft, Randy attended Western Michigan University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music. He also earned a master’s degree in Studio Jazz Writing from the University of Miami. What makes Randy Bold & Gritty is the way he approaches life as he breaks down barriers in music.
