Dr. Clauden Louis is a physician and surgeon in training in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY. As an Omega man, Clauden is Bold and Gritty because he uses the path less traveled to get to where he is going. His sole purpose is to build bridges for others to follow. Originally from Miami Florida, and the son of Haitian immigrants, he is a lifelong learner – earning degrees in both Exercise Science and Biomedical Science from Florida State University and Barrie University. He then completed medical school at Howard University in Washington, DC. Dr. Louis is also dually enrolled as a student in the departments of Public Health, Engineering and Business Administration at Johns Hopkins University. His clinical interests include heart failure, ventricular assist and mechanical circulatory devices, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and minimally invasive heart surgery. He has published research on bioethics, surgical outcomes after heart surgery and innovation – and remains actively involved in medical student and resident mentorship. He currently holds numerous national society leadership positions within Cardiothoracic Surgery and has authored 2 cardiothoracic surgery textbooks currently in the top #50 textbooks in cardiothoracic surgery “TSRA Decision Algorithms in Cardiothoracic Surgery”, “TSRA Clinical Scenarios in Cardiothoracic Surgery: 2nd Edition” and will release “TSRA Review of Cardiothoracic Surgery: 3rd Edition” this upcoming year. The tenacity with which he approaches life is the definition of Bold and Gritty.
