Don’t Accept No for an Answer

“Accepting someone else’s limited vision of what you are capable of can cheat you out of your own success.”

Julian Hinson, MD is a 32-year-old Family Medicine Resident at Charles Drew University. Of the many disparities in healthcare, the one Julian has chosen to focus on is to reduce barriers to modern health technology. He is improving patient care in Compton, California through point-of-care ultrasound and telehealth. Dr. Hinson is also co-founder of the podcast “First Generation | Second opinion,” a member of the Africa Partners Medical team, and the expectant father of his first child.

Dr. Hinson encourages everyone aspiring to become Bold and Gritty to gravitate toward individuals with big goals and large appetites — “listen to them when they challenge you to pursue bigger and better objectives.”

He is not a stranger to adversity, and if he would have believed, “No” as doors closed around him during medical school, he would have never finished. It was his relentless drive to not accept someone else’s “No” for his vision. “Accepting someone else’s limited vision of what you are capable of can cheat you out of your own success.”
